Kuwait Supports Egypt’s Nile Water Rights in Joint Statement

Kuwait and Egypt have pledged to deepen economic cooperation and investment partnerships during President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi’s official visit to Kuwait. The two nations agreed to expand collaboration in energy, infrastructure, and technology while aligning on key regional issues, including Gaza, Sudan, and Middle East stability.

Kuwait and Egypt have committed to enhancing their economic, commercial, and investment relations, reinforcing a longstanding strategic alliance. The agreement came during Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi’s two-day visit to Kuwait at the invitation of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

High-level discussions between the two leaders focused on expanding Kuwaiti investments in Egypt, particularly in energy, agriculture, real estate, and pharmaceuticals. Both nations expressed enthusiasm for further cooperation in infrastructure, healthcare, and education, with Kuwait endorsing Egypt’s economic reforms under its Vision 2030 development plan.

Kuwait also confirmed its participation in the upcoming Gulf-Egypt Investment Forum in Cairo, seen as a key platform for strengthening regional economic integration. The two countries further aligned on diplomatic priorities, with Kuwait backing Egypt’s nomination of Dr. Khaled El-Anani for UNESCO Director-General.

The leaders emphasized the need for a ceasefire in Gaza and endorsed UN Security Council Resolution 2720 to ensure sustained humanitarian aid. They rejected any displacement of Palestinians and reiterated support for a two-state solution based on 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as Palestine’s capital.

On Syria, both nations called for adherence to UN Security Council Resolution 2254, opposing foreign interference and violations of sovereignty. They welcomed Lebanon’s recent political developments as a step toward stability and urged progress in Sudan’s conflict through regional mediation efforts.

Kuwait reaffirmed its support for Egypt’s water security, rejecting any threats to its Nile water rights. The two nations also dismissed external claims over the Dorra gas field, asserting its exclusive ownership by Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

President Al-Sisi thanked Kuwait for its hospitality and expressed optimism for continued collaboration. The visit underscored a shared commitment to economic growth and regional diplomacy amid ongoing Middle East challenges.
